Edvard Munch’s Versailles
After renting out at several different addresses since 1889, Munch bought in 1898 his first ever property, in Åsgårdstrand. This must have been the happiest day of Edvard Munch’s life.

The house was not just a “cottage”, but Munch’s permanent residence and only personal home for several years to come. Munch also took over a well-kept kitchen garden, which gave him a lot of joy – and new image patterns.
